Y2.2K
I remember the fear of the Y2K computer issue that would occur on January 1, 2000. The US spent over $300 billion to prevent what they predicted to be a major catastrophic problem. Now 20 years later, we are even more depended on electronic devices. There are currently 5.15 billion people (66.6% of the world population) with mobile electronic devices. In the US, 78% of homes have a computer and 37% of adults use a computer while at work with almost 100% of students use electronic devices at school. How would an unpredicted issue like Y2K affect us today? The average person spends over 6 hours a day looking at an electronic screen. “The modern version of fasting is not doing without food but doing without a mobile electronic device.”
50 Years of Commitment
Except for family farms or family owned businesses, it is very rare that someone celebrates 50 years of employment with the same employer. It is very rare that people celebrate 50 years of being in the same community. It is very rare that people celebrate 50 years of being married. It is sad to say that I know a number of persons who have given up their service to the Lord. God has given you an eternal commitment. What will your record of commitment be when you see the Lord? “A great person leaves a legacy of commitment and not cash.”
Impeachment
Now we are experiencing another presidential impeachment. No matter what the outcome, our government and our citizens have become greatly divided, opinionated, stubborn, disrespectful, self-centered, untrusted and disillusioned. ”In God we trust” has become an obsolete and offensive saying. If Bible reading and prayer were a part of the process, it would be peaceful and truthful with positive result.
What is Love?
February 14 is known as  St. Valentine's Day. It is a day on which people express their love to the person who means the most to them. Our English language is so weak regarding the meaning of love. What does it mean to love God with all your heart, soul and mind? What does it mean to love your neighbor as yourself?
It’s A Wonderful Life
During this past Christmas season, there were a number of classic Christmas movies on TV.
My favorite Christmas movie is the 1946 “It’s A Wonderful Life” Many of us may have also said or thought, “I wish I was never born.” But, in reality, this is the best time that God can work through us. “It can only be a wonderful life when you surrender your life to Christ.”
The Unseen Enemy
Today, we are facing a pandemic, Coronavirus Covid-19. As of March 18, there was been 218,642 cases and 8,942 deaths with 125,317 currently infected patients worldwide and the numbers are climbing hourly. Out of caution and not fear, I am working at home and keeping limited contact with the world. There is also another unseen enemy which is Satan. We all must be more cautious and fearful of him, for he has destroyed more lives than any health issue, war, famine, or disaster. His effects are eternal. “Satan is like the flu. You cannot see him but his ways are devastating for you.”

Is Your Old Man Dead?
The other night, I watched The Andy Griffith Show. It featured a man named Thomas Silby. He came to Andy. Andy looked at him as if he seen a ghost. Andy said that the last time he saw Tom was at Tom’s funeral. Tom’s wife had reported that while he has on a trip, he been run over by a train. They had a service and put up a gravestone for him. Andy asked him what should be done with his tombstone. Tom said leave it there. That old man is dead and buried. I am a changed man. No more drinking, cursing or anger.
We Need the Red Cross
Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. The symbols of both God’s physical and spiritual healing are with us today. We need to seek His Red Cross to heal our land. Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth. Jer 33:3,6
The Remains of Jesus
On March 4, 2007, I watched, on the Discovery Channel, a documentary called “The Lost Tomb of Jesus”. They gave the presentation that Jesus’ remains were found. That His resurrection was only in spirit and not in body. Jesus’ body was moved to this tomb to fool everyone. “Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.” “As Christians, Jesus remains in us.”
Make Every Day Mother’s Day
The modern holiday of Mother's Day was first celebrated in 1908, when Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother at St Andrew's Methodist Church in Grafton, WV. God had chosen a specific Mother for you for a reason. We need to thank God and our Mother for their foundation in us and then build upon it to become a person that God can use. Mother’s Day should not be just one day a year. You should honor and thank her often “Without mothers, none of us would be here.”
Do You Know Your Mother?
For my wife’s 50th birthday party, I made up a game called “Do You Know Your Mother?” The contestants were our two teenage sons. I had a list of questions about their mother and every time they got a question wrong, they had to put bubblegum in their month. Let’s just say, their mouths were so filled they could hardly talk. The bigger questions are: How well does God know you? How well do you know God’s Son Jesus? “There is a big difference between knowing about God and knowing God.”
Who’s Who
I felt honored when I received the above e-mail last month from Marquis Who's Who. In Hebrews chapter 11, God lists many in His Who’s Who of faith. Some of these people would have never been nominated for Marquis Who's Who list. With God, you do not have to be someone great, rich, famous, or even a saint to be listed in His Hall of Fame or Book of Life. Our true notoriety should be for Jesus to say: “Well done my good and faithful servant.”
Quarantine Quarrel
With this virus, I do not know who is right and wrong. But I do know that God knows. For this reason, I am praying and trusting that He is guiding our leaders and medical workers in the right direction. It is not about our rights but our responsibilities, our relationships our reactions and our righteousness. God will hold both our leaders and us accountable for improper actions. If your God cannot control or change your leader than you need to change gods. “If you do not agree with what the leaders are doing then go straight to the Highest Authority.”
Understanding Our Icon for Liberty.
A cracked bell nor a human government can bring you live, liberty nor true happiness. But a wooden cross can break your chains of sin, give you peace that passes all understanding and give you life more abundant.
The "Eyes" Have it
Some people are able to smile with their eyes.  It doesn’t matter if most of their face is covered with a mask - you know they are smiling just by looking at their eyes.  Your eyes are all others can see of your face in this Covid world.  Ask God to draw your attention towards His work in our world so your eyes can reflect His beauty, goodness, and light to others.

Do You Really Know Colonel Sanders?
Now that Colonel Sanders was a successful business man, you’d think he’d be satisfied. But something inside him still yearned for more. The Colonel, now 75 (invited by a stranger on the street) started attending   Evangel Tabernacle and befriended a pastor by the name of Waymon Rodgers. At one service, Waymon knelt down next to the Colonel, asking if he’d like to be born again.  In that moment, Colonel Sanders accepted Jesus into his heart. He'd  finally the fulfillment he'd been seeking his whole life. “Earthly successes may fill your pockets but it will not do much for your empty soul.”
The Persistent Spider
After cleaning the big spider web off my car four times, I said the heck with it and left it and the spider alone.. “God does not need your abilities. He wants your availability, usability and dependability.”
Apples
I love apples, apple juice, applesauce, apple crisp, apple pie and my favorite apple dumplings with vanilla ice cream. The York (my home time) Imperial Apple is a great producer and if properly cared for, a mature tree could average up to twenty bushels a year.  It is designated an "antique apple" because it has been grown for more than 200 years. When man was first created, there was a forbidden fruit which many believe was an apple.  "Which is your life based on: fruit of the spirit or fruit of the loop?"
An Illustration of Baptism
Baptism is an outward confession of an inward profession. In other words, it shows others that you confessed that you were a sinner and accepted Jesus as your Savior. It identifies you with His death, burial and resurrection. It is a form of commission for you to perform His work. It is a step of obedience.
All Lives Matter
Instead of protesting, let us sit down, discuss and enact solutions. Let us all pray and seek God's Face, Maybe then we can become "One Nation, under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all."  “To be more like Jesus, you must be colored blind.”
Belonger
Uncle Sam taught my father. fed him. housed him, clothed him and told him what to do. He belonged to them 24/7. Even on leave, he still belonged to the Navy. Are you just a believer, a one-hour a week faith worshiper, or are you a 24/7 born-again belonger? “If people cannot see that you belong to Jesus, then you better improve your faith.”
Our President
Recently there was an election for the next President. The voting was very close. Some states, like mine, took days to count every vote. There are court cases and recounts which will stretch out the official announcement. No matter the true outcome about 50% of the country will be upset. The most effective thing that you can do for your leaders is get on your hands and knees and pray. Then get up and do what John F. Kennedy said "Ask not what your country can do for you but  ask what you can do for your country." "Our Country’s salvation will not be coming from the White House but from God’s House."
"Davey and Goliath's Snowboard Christmas"
While I was a child, I use to watch "Davey and Goliath” every Sunday morning before church. "Davey and Goliath” premiered in syndication on February 25, 1961. By 1964, the show was airing in over 90% of U.S. television markets. Davey had the opportunity to say who and why Jesus came but the producer did not have in this special. As Christians, we believe that Jesus, the Son of God, came to seek and save those that are lost. We believe that only in Jesus we have eternal life. We cannot be quiet about sharing this free gift to others expressly at Christmas.
